A flexible way to keep showing up.
The method
Flexible by design
This app follows the Elastic Habits method from Stephen Guise’s book Elastic Habits.
Instead of a rigid pass/fail habit, you can track up to five habits. Each has up to three lateral options: different ways to satisfy the same habit. Every option has Mini for a small win, Plus for a solid effort, and Elite for an excellent effort.
Each day, choose whichever option and level you can manage. Mini keeps momentum; Elite stretches you. Flexibility is the point.
How Stats scores your marks
Scoring methodology
- Points
Mini is 1 point, Plus is 2, and Elite is 3. An unmarked day is 0.
- Several options, one score
You may mark more than one option for a habit on a day. Points and aggregate stats count that habit-day once, at its highest marked level. A split-colored day box or Year in Pixels square shows every marked level visually, but never double-counts the day.
- Monthly totals
For each habit and overall, the total is the points earned in the viewed month. Mini, Plus, and Elite are day counts; Total is points. The 1st–15th and 16th–end split is points, not day counts. Best month is the month with the highest points; the earliest month wins a tie.
- Streaks
For a habit, any marked level counts as done: Mini keeps a streak alive just like Elite. Current streak counts back from today; if today is not yet marked, counting starts yesterday, so today does not break it. Best streak is the longest run of consecutive marked days ever.
- Year in Pixels
There is one row per month and one square per day. Green is Mini, Silver is Plus, and Gold is Elite. Several marked options split the square into equal color shares; an empty square is an unrecorded day.
- Weekly rhythm
For each habit, this is the average points for each weekday from that habit’s first record through today. Missed days count as 0. The scale is 0–3.
- Level mix by month
For each month across all habits, this shows how many habit-days ended at Mini, Plus, and Elite, plus total points. It shows the latest 12 recorded months.
- Intensity
For each habit, this is a 30-day rolling average of daily points, with missed days counted as 0. It runs from the first record—or, if that is older, six months ago—through today. The scale is 0–3.
- Notes
Notes never affect stats. Every aggregate reads day marks only.
- Which dates a stat uses
Month totals use the month shared with the Month tab. Streaks use all recorded days; Year in Pixels uses its selected year; Weekly rhythm and Intensity use the windows above; Level mix uses its latest 12 recorded months.
